She dances series steampunk ballerina Althea "armed and dangerous"
Two pieces from this series were purchased by designer Kenneth Cole.
As an environmental artist, I hate to see things wasted. I believe that MOST things can be recycled, and this is proof.
The image was taken from my upcycled sculptures and applied to wood scraps from kitchen cabinets. Part digital; a diffused filter was applied. After being put on wood, a 3D coil of hair was added along with a detached arm to give her dimension!
About Althea: Head to toe; her hat is a repurposed sprinkler head, face is cast resin, neck collar is a recycled metal bottle and vintage chandelier crystals, torso is a drill motor, yarn and thread scraps with a steel wire cage, arms are a vintage hair roller and salvaged motor parts, fabricated hands, her tutu is mostly plastic caps from hair color tubes, acrylic shards, pods, Christmas bulbs and a few random found objects, and her feet are piano hammers.
Finished with a clear UV coating.
